In November 2016, Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio announced the commencement of'a community led process to assess and manage bushfire risk in the Yellingbo Conservation Area'.

This is part of a plan to implement the extended Yellingbo Conservation Area by the end of 2018. The bushfire risk assessment will consider all risk factors, and develop specific bushfire management recommendations and strategies to ensure bushfire risk in the extended area is managed effectively.

The initial focus of this work is on the Don Valley area and Haining Farm. This will be followed by further bushfire planning work covering the broader Yellingbo Conservation Area. This will also include community engagement and consultation.
